Tent Peak (Tharpu Chuli) (15 Nights/16 Days)

Situated in the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, Tharpu Chuli / Tent Peak (5663m) is an attractive mountain; part of the ridge line, thrown south from Glacier Dome, that includes Singu Chuli and acts as a central divider between the semicircle peaks enclosing the Sanctuary.

 

In 1957 during the British Machhapuchhare Expedition the mountain got its first attention by Jimmy Roberts who was doing a reconnaissance in the sanctuary. It was Roberts that gave the peak its name: Tent Peak. His attempt to climb the mountain ended high on the North-West ridge; a route later climbed by the Germans. In fact the mountain was first climbed by members of the Japanese Annapurna South Expedition in 1964.
